INTEGRATIVE GENOMICS UNIT
The Integrative Genomics Unit at TIDREC plays a prominent role in global research, bringing together the complexities of infectious diseases under the illuminating lens of integrative genomics. Rooted in unwavering commitment, our mission resonates across local and international horizons. With a paramount focus on advancing disease understanding, we delve into the intricacies of pathogens, hosts, vectors, and environments, forging a comprehensive grasp of disease dynamics. Our local capacities for pathogen discovery and genomics surveillance empower not only our nation but also contribute to a global network of disease surveillance. As a member of the Malaysia’s National COVID-19 Genomics Surveillance Consortium, we play an integral role in monitoring COVID-19 variants, thus heightening our nation's readiness in the face of an evolving pandemic landscape. Furthermore, we extend our collaborative efforts to bolster national surveillance initiatives. In addition, a significant aspect of our mission involves fostering capacity-building. By focusing intently on knowledge dissemination, we empower scientists, researchers, and healthcare professionals with the acumen needed to harness the potential of genomics in their respective fields. With resolute dedication, we unravel genetic complexities, bolster pandemic preparedness, and forge a path toward a healthier, more resilient future that transcends boundaries and safeguards the well-being of all.
