On 6 February 2025, TIDREC has received 20 visitors/trainees from Malaysian Biosafety Officer Training (MABOT) 6 PHASE 2 which include 3 trainers from Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA (Eric Cook, William Pinard and Dana Manriquez. The program was funded by DTRA under the MyOHUN program.
The aim of this session is to expose the participants to the practices in an actual BSL3 laboratory, while handling highly virulent pathogens (RG3 and above). The training session also included the PPE Donning and Doffing (Tyvek, PAPR, N95 respiratory), emergency responses (needle prick injury, biological spill management) and common practices in BSL3 laboratory such as working in a BSC, packaging and shipping, glogerm activities that demonstrated contamination carry over. The afternoon session continued with a discussion among the participants to prepare for the IFBA Professional Certification Exam on Biorisk Management.
