U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit Indo-Pacific (NAMRU-IP) Pays Courtesy Visit to Universiti Malaya
On 16 July 2026, delegates from the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit Indo-Pacific (NAMRU-IP) conducted a courtesy visit to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at Universiti Malaya. The visit was coordinated with the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research & Education Centre (TIDREC), Universiti Malaya, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen research collaboration in infectious diseases and global health. The high-level meeting focused on advancing scientific research and reinforcing the strategic partnership between Universiti Malaya, TIDREC, and NAMRU-IP. Discussions explored opportunities to expand joint initiatives in infectious disease surveillance, biosecurity, laboratory research, capacity building, and the development of medical countermeasures.
By combining Universiti Malaya's academic excellence, TIDREC's expertise in tropical infectious diseases, and NAMRU-IP's regional research capabilities, this collaboration aims to advance scientific innovation, enhance regional preparedness, and contribute to global health security across the Indo-Pacific region.
